Contraindications

Liver disease. ONLY use certified PA-free products. Raw, unprocessed butterbur is toxic.

Interactions

May interact with medications metabolized by the liver (CYP enzymes).

Side Effects

PA-free extracts: burping, headache, GI upset. Non-PA-free: severe liver damage, carcinogenicity.

Liver: CRITICAL: Only use PA-free preparations. Pyrrolizidine alkaloids cause hepatotoxicity and are carcinogenic.
Allergy: Asteraceae family allergy. Cross-reactivity with ragweed.
