Contraindications

GI ulcers, GERD, irritable bowel. Nightshade allergy. Avoid on broken skin topically.

Interactions

May interact with blood thinners, ACE inhibitors, stomach acid reducers, aspirin, and theophylline.

Side Effects

Burning sensation (topical and internal), GI irritation, sweating. Topical capsaicin: intense burning on first applications.

Surgery: Discontinue 2 weeks before surgery (may increase bleeding).
