Important Safety Notes
Never Apply Undiluted
The most common adverse reaction is skin irritation from undiluted use. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin.
Patch Test First
Apply a small amount of diluted oil to the inside of your wrist. Wait 24 hours for any reaction before full use.
Phototoxic Oils
Bergamot, expressed Lemon, expressed Lime, Grapefruit, Bitter Orange, and Angelica Root require lower dilutions and no sun for 12-24 hours after application.
Skin Sensitizers
Cinnamon Bark (max 0.07%), Clove (max 0.5%), and Oregano (max 1%) require especially low dilutions.
Children
Use 0.5-1% for ages 2-6. Avoid Peppermint under 6, Eucalyptus under 10. Never use essential oils on infants under 6 months.
Pregnancy
Use 1% maximum. Avoid emmenagogue oils (Clary Sage, Sage, Fennel, Juniper) during pregnancy.
