Keynote Symptoms
Hard, stony enlargement of glands — thyroid, parotid, submaxillary, ovarian. Membranous croup with sawing respiration, worse from inspiration (opposite of Spongia which is worse expiration). Better at sea, worse inland. Left-sided complaints. Suited to fair-haired, blue-eyed children. Sensation of cobweb on face.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Anxiety, fear of dark. Homesick. Desire to travel. Disposition to quarrel. Delusion of being watched or followed.
General Symptoms
Glandular enlargement and hardening. Left-sided. Worse from warmth, warm room, dust, evening, damp, before midnight, inspiration. Better from sea air, motion, nose-bleed, after shaving.
Physical Symptoms
Head
Headache worse from sun, heat. Vertigo at bridge.
Nose
Coryza with excoriating discharge. Fan-like motion of nostrils (like Lycopodium). Stuffiness.
Throat
Thyroid enlarged, hard. Goitre. Tonsils enlarged and hard. Parotid enlarged. Sensation of a sponge in throat. Tickling.
Respiratory
Membranous croup — worse on inspiration, with sawing respiration. Spasmodic cough. Asthma — better at sea (sailor's asthma). Sensation of dust or smoke in larynx. Rattling, loose cough.
Chest
Palpitation with anxiety. Oppression. Sharp stitching pains, left side.
Female Genitalia
Ovarian tumour, left side, hard. Menses too early, profuse. Pain from breast to axilla.
Skin
Boils. Hard nodes. Acne. Sensation of cobweb on face.

Spongia has croup but worse from expiration; Bromium worse from inspiration. Iodum has thyroid enlargement but with emaciation and heat. Calcarea fluorica has stony-hard glands. Lachesis is left-sided but with more jealousy.

Elemental bromine is extremely corrosive, causing severe burns to skin and mucous membranes. Bromine vapor is toxic. Formerly used medicinally as potassium bromide (sedative). Use only potentised forms.
