Keynote Symptoms
Oversensitive to pain — pain seems intolerable, out of proportion. Cross, irritable, snappish — nothing satisfies, asks for things then refuses them. Child must be carried and rocked constantly. One cheek red and hot, other pale and cold. Green, watery, hot, sour-smelling stool during teething.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Extremely irritable, spiteful, snappish. Cannot tolerate being spoken to or looked at. Impatient, restless. Capricious — wants something then rejects it immediately. Child can only be quieted by being carried. Quarrelsome, complaining. Ailments from anger and vexation.
General Symptoms
Oversensitivity to pain, to all impressions. Worse from heat, anger, open air, wind, night (9 PM), coffee, narcotics. Better from being carried, warm wet weather, fasting, cold applications. Numbness with the pains. Hot sweat, especially on head.
Physical Symptoms
Head
Hot sweating of head. Throbbing headache in one half. Inclined to bend head backward.
Ears
Earache with soreness, worse from warmth, from wind. Ear feels stopped. Ringing in ears.
Face
One cheek red and hot, other pale and cold. Toothache driving to distraction.
Mouth
Toothache worse from warm drinks, coffee, at night. Teeth feel too long. Gums red, tender during dentition.
Stomach
Eructations foul. Nausea after coffee. Bilious vomiting. Tongue yellow, taste bitter. Sweating after eating or drinking.
Abdomen
Distended, griping colic causing the patient to bend double. Colic after anger. Flatulence. Hot abdomen.
Rectum
Hot, green, watery, fetid stool like chopped eggs and spinach. Diarrhea during dentition. Sore anus. Stool smells of rotten eggs.
Female Genitalia
Profuse dark clotted menses with labour-like pains. Uterine haemorrhage with irritability. Nipples inflamed, tender.
Respiratory
Hoarseness, rattling of mucus in child's chest. Cough dry, tickling, irritating, worse at night and during sleep.
Extremities
Violent rheumatic pains driving out of bed. Ankles give way. Burning of soles at night.
Skin
Rash of infants. Unhealthy skin, every little injury suppurates.
Sleep & Dreams
Sleepless from pain, irritability. Starts in sleep. Moaning, weeping in sleep. Drowsy but cannot sleep.
Fever / Chill / Perspiration
Long chill, much heat, little sweat. One cheek hot, one cold. Hot sweat on head. Thirst during fever.

Comparative Materia Medica
Belladonna has similar red face and fever but more delirium and drowsiness. Cina has irritable children but more grinding of teeth and nose-picking. Coffea has sleeplessness from pain but is more excitable and joyful.
