Keynote Symptoms
Incarcerated flatus — the keynote. Gas accumulates in the abdomen and cannot be expelled either upward (eructation) or downward (flatus). Abdomen enormously distended, hard, tympanitic. Post-operative ileus. Globus hystericus. Nausea without ability to vomit. Useful after abdominal surgery.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Anxious from abdominal distension. Hysteria with globus. Weeping.
General Symptoms
Abdomen primarily. Worse from lying down, after eating, after surgery. Better from walking, passing gas (if possible).
Physical Symptoms
Stomach
Nausea without vomiting. Cannot eructate. Gas trapped.
Abdomen
Enormously distended — hard, tympanitic. Incarcerated flatus — gas cannot pass up or down. Post-operative gas. Colic from trapped gas. Rumbling without passage. Paralytic ileus.

China has distension but with more debility. Lycopodium has bloating but in lower abdomen, 4-8 PM. Carbo vegetabilis has distension but with desire for air and fanning. Opium has post-operative ileus but with stupor.

Black radish is a common food vegetable. Non-toxic. Used in European naturopathy for liver and gallbladder support. Safe in all potencies.
