Bearberry leaves contain arbutin — converted to hydroquinone in alkaline urine, providing antimicrobial effect. Widely used for UTI in herbal medicine. Long-term use of crude form may cause liver damage (hydroquinone). Safe in potentised forms and short-term herbal use.
